

Norma Jean Hayes passed away peacefully in Holly Hill, Florida on Saturday, March 18, 2017, surrounded by her children and their families; her brother, James Cline; her nephew Robert Hayes; and her loving care-giver, Karen Escott. She was also in the thoughts and prayers of all those who knew and loved her. Jean was born on August 28, 1933 in Rowlesburg, West Virginia. She was united in marriage to Ramon H. Hayes, who preceded her in death in January, 2007. She had a long and happy career spanning more than 30 years as an elementary school teacher, first in Ohio and then in Florida. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister and is fondly remembered by her extended family and a wide circle of friends here and across the globe. She most enjoyed spending time with friends and family, reading and traveling. Survivors include Nancy & Walt Otto and grandchildren Alec and Bree Otto of Seal Beach, CA; Deborah & Oliver Ferguson of Katy, TX; Randal & Christina Hayes of Ormond Beach, FL.; and Roger Hayes of Holly Hill, FL.; her brother James Cline of Terra Alta, WV; and her sister, Vivian Shacklette of Gainesville, FL; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
