Oliver H Perry II

Oliver was born on March 5, 1941, and was a resident of Ormond Beach, Florida.

Oliver “Dick” Perry was a proud United States Army Ranger who loved his country and was deeply proud of the opportunity to serve his country. A graduate of Fork Union Military Academy, Dick carried that sense of pride and dedication throughout his life.

Dick had a remarkable talent for creating military miniatures. He was a true master craftsman, putting countless hours, patience, and love into each piece. His military miniature collection was generously donated to Fork Union Military Academy, a place that held special meaning for him, so that others could enjoy and appreciate his work for years to come. But those who knew Dick will remember so much more than his military service and his incredible craftsmanship. They will remember his kindness, his friendship, his stories, his sense of humor, and simply having Dick around. He became a familiar and much-loved part of the neighborhood. His friends and neighbors will especially miss seeing him standing on his porch, waving as they drove by—a simple little wave that said, “I see you,” and became a treasured part of so many people's days.

Dick is survived by his wife; his daughter, Cathi Perry of North Carolina; his stepson, William Walker “Trey” of Virginia; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Barrie Fyfe of Virginia; and many dear friends and neighbors who became like family to him.

Dick leaves behind a lifetime of memories, friendships, and a legacy of service and craftsmanship. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His place on the porch may be empty, but the memory of Dick’s familiar wave will remain in the hearts of those who passed by and those who loved him.
