“Trish”
March 30, 1943 – October 4, 2017
Patricia Magaletta was born in Yonkers, New York. After graduating high school in 1961, she attended Berkeley Business School in White Plains. Pat was working as an executive secretary for the General Foods Corporation when she married Michael Florio in 1964. In the fall of 1966 the young couple, with their first born in tow, ventured over the Tappan Zee Bridge and purchased a house in Spring Valley, New York.
The years that followed had her husband traveling back and forth over that bridge as Pat lovingly raised their 4 children and transformed that house in to a home where all were always welcomed with sincerity and generosity.
Pat had a knack for finding houses in the area for family and friends. When her youngest entered high school, Pat took her skill to the next level and became a licensed real estate agent. Her dynamic personality made her popular everywhere she went in the community and she was quickly recruited by the local bank manager. Pat worked as a loan officer and mortgage specialist for First Federal Savings and Loan until 1995 when she retired to Daytona Beach, Florida. Without missing a beat, she went to work as an office manager in her husband’s company, Superior Signs, and to the surprise of everyone, reinvented herself as “Trish”.
She devoured books and to be read to by her was a treat her kids never outgrew. Trish never missed an opportunity to write someone a letter of encouragement, thanks or praise. She loved working with her hands and she was always coming up with creative decorating ideas and projects she could do with her grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy and she prayed for them every day of her life.
Trish was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy in early 2012. After a heroic battle with the debilitating disease, she passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Michael T Florio, their children, Michael C Florio, Elaine Florio Alexander, Gregg T Florio and Russell C Florio and their grand children, Austin, Angelo, Christina and Christopher.
Services for Trish are on Thursday, October 12th at 10am, Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Port Orange, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to Halifax Hospice.
