My Dad was an unbelievable welder. One year he made trophies for every player pertaining to their position. Nobody else has trophies like that!!😁.

Every Veteran’s Day going to breakfast with Poppop and Uncle Dickie! Love you Uncle Dickie.

Uncle Dickie is my uncle through marriage. But he’s one of many reasons I’m proud to be a Hannon and he treated me like a lifelong niece.  He was like a second grandfather to my kids Faith and Joel. He never missed their birthdays and always attended their events like Joel’s sports games, Faith’s chorus and piano recitals, and her band gigs. 

When I moved into my house in 2009, Pat and Dickie moved all of my furniture and contents while I was at work and couldn’t take time off and got us all set up in one day! Later when we found out the house had squirrels in the attic they helped trap them and take them a few miles away. But wouldn’t you know squirrels know how to make their way back, so they trapped them AGAIN and this time drove them miles away to the Ocala Forrest. Pat drove and Dickie held the bagged squirrel out the window and released him to the forest never to be seen again.  Dickie helped me with a lot of things.  Installed ceiling fans, blew the pine needles off my roof, and when the kids were at their dad’s on Mother’s Day, he and Pat took me out for the day to celebrate.  He practiced soccer with Joel, swam in the pool with the kids, and when it was time to learn how to drive, he taught Faith.  He let Joel drive him around too and never got nervous with a new driver like the rest of us did. 

He always was genuinely glad to see me and interested in how my life was going and how things were going at work. We had a lot of nice talks on his front porch. He was a friend and a caretaker. Always had the best attitude and left you feeling better about yourself and the world after a visit with him. He’ll definitely be missed and I’m looking forward to seeing him again.

Uncle Dickie liked a good party and he loved the beach. The kids and I have great memories of when Uncle Dickie and PopPop Pat lived in their beach condos at Ormond-by-the-Sea. We spent many a Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekend at the pool and beach with them. Joel would go to Uncle Dickie’s condo to visit because he always had desserts and candy and was working on cool looking puzzles.

Uncle Dickie was a family man that’s for sure. He never missed a birthday party. We had a lot of great times at family dinners at restaurants and he and Karren hosted many family dinners at their home. We’re always welcomed to come over. He’ll surely he missed!

     I have known you longer than anyone in my life.
     I held you on my lap when you were 1st born. We walked halfway through D.C. to go to school, we were sent to West Virginia when our house burned down, we played on the same sand lot football team & we were both in the Navy.
      We have always stayed in touch for 85yrs. 
     You will be missed. I am proud to be your brother. 
     You have had a good run.
     Now it's time to rest in peace.
     I love you brother.

Once in a lifetime you meet a person who becomes your (Soul Mate).  
Someone who stands beside you,. Are loyal, caring & true. I know I hit the jackpot to have a once in a lifetime,  like my Mr. 
Wonderful.  I have been so BLESSED, Thank you Lord.  You are so missed, but in our hearts forever.

Richard was who he was, kind, caring and supportive.  A wonderful Father , Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, 
great grandpa.   A Great husband that's why I always called him Mr. Wonderful, because he was.  He was always there helping everyone, he was there for you.  He so much loved those who weren't  his, but had become his.   I always wanted to pinch myself to know this wonderful man wanted me, to love the rest of his life.  As he got weaker and weaker his last words tome were I love you.  He was loved more then he even knew. He was my hero as I told him in the notes in his lunch snacks.  With every breath of my heart he is still my Mr. Wonderful my hero. I love you Mr., Wonderful...Until we meet again.   God Bless

Richard was such a wonderful man.  He loved his family dearly, and that love was without borders.  He was always in the middle of the fun, on the floor with the grandkids, in the pool, at the park.  He always had time for family.  Each mishap or broken item became a fun moment with his grandkids that he would turn into an adventure.  One example stands out when one of my boys flushed a dixie cup on Christmas Eve and flooded the bathroom.  He never got upset, just made it a game where the boys helped him take apart the toilet.  That's who he was.  The guy who had no problem picking you up from the airport at 3 am.  The guy who would "make it rain" for the grandkids, spraying the roof of the porch.  He would put M&M's on their eggs and eat them with the kids.  I'd often find grandpa on the couch with a carton of ice cream, a 2 liter of root beer, one spoon, and a kid on either side sharing a treat.  When our daughter was born he was first in the room waiting to hold her.  There are so many things I can say about this man who made room in his heart to be more than a step-dad, but a dad and beloved grandpa to me and my family.  I will miss him saying "Hey kid" and "Where's my Hug".  I will miss his smile and his kindness.  I will miss him.

Richard was such a great man !
He was such a great influence in my life when I met him 37 years ago and he would eventually become my father-in -law and a great friend and advisor.  He always had a way to make you feel good about yourself and made you smile with his great sense of humor and his positive love of life. He will be greatly missed and I will never forget the influence he had on my life . RIP Richard , Dan Balmer

Richard was so kind to me and my family. He took me to get fitted for a new set of golf clubs. I thought we were just hanging out with a friend of his who had a swing speed meter. However, for Christmas, he gave me a new set of fitted clubs.  So cool. For my first father's day he arranged for Silas and Levi to give a tool box filled with all the tools a new home owner would need. So kind, generous and thoughtful. He was always at the kid's events with the video camera. He never forgot a birthday. I spent more then a few days at the range hitting golf balls with Richard and he was always more focused on helping me with my swing then his own game. Whenever we went out to dinner he would sneak away and hand his credit card to the waitress. After a while I caught on and would try to get to the waiter first. I still use this trick. Always ready to help. Always ready to say something kind. This is the Richard Hannon I knew and will miss.
