I met Dick several years ago at a Cougar show and saw him many timessince then at all Ford Nationals in Carlisle,he was a good story teller some great car stories and he had some nice cars, my favorite line from Dick was when a group of us went out for breakfast in Louisville when we sat down the waitress came over and Dick said to her "just bring me an i.v. of coffee" Godspeed Dick.

    Dick and I first met in seventh grade science class in 1956 - we both had a fascination with electronics and audio, and spent many hours fiddling with tape recorders and Heathkit amplifiers. We were the 'sound engineers' for the ninth grade play and, although my family moved away from Arlington in my sophmore year, we always remained close friends.We spent summers together at Fenwick Island with his family and during the school year we tooled around town with Dick on the back of my Cushman Scooter. Most recently, last Fall,  I spent a delightful visit with Dick, Pat, Lois, Jim, and Allen in North Georgia - through all these years we've kept in close touch. We never had to apologize to one another for the constant teasing whenever we connected - we both knew it was always in good fun with no hurt intended. 
    There isn't a day that's passed since that fateful call from Lois that I haven't thought of, and mourned for you, Dick. You were one of my closest friends.............. Bob Neyman

I also met Dick because of our love for Cougars. If it wasn't for wonderful, dedicated people like Dick and Randy Goodling and others there never would have been a Cougar Club of America.I always enjoyed seeing him and talking to him. Time goes so fast and Dick left us all too soon. My prayers are with you. Dick , you'll never be forgotten.

I first met Dick in 1982 in Virginia and although the 3500-miles between our homes was something of a barrier, I'm proud to have known Dick as a friend.
Jeanette and I fly over to Florida each year from the UK and I'd meet up with my friend at the Turkey Run in Daytona. It's safe to say I'll miss those discussions we had about almost nothing at all. We'd just sit by his trade stand and fix all that was wrong with the World on that day.

As someone who worked for Dick at Sperry/Unisys, I would simply like to say that he was such a vibrant presence.  In particular, his dislike of any sort of hypocrisy, and his sense of humor will be greatly missed by all of us who considered ourselves "his" tech writers.

Dick and I became friends while at NC State University. Eventually, he and I worked part-time for the same company, Jimmy Capps Productions, a recording studio and radio program syndicator.  In the summer of 1967, we took off three weeks to explore Europe together, driving all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  

We took very different career paths, he working with Sperry/Unisys and myself in broadcasting and media. While we were always geographically separated after that, we stayed in touch over all the intervening years.  There was always a friendly phone call, an email, a short letter, snapshots, or a surprise gift, and we managed to get together at least once a year.  We also wrote a book together, "The Not-Too-Technical Home Theater Handbook", which is still available at lulu.com.  

We had many good times together, and he was a rare gift: a truly lifelong friend for me and my entire family.  Whenever we got together, the years vanished but the friendship always remained. He brought joy to all who knew him, through his humor, his caring, and truly being the kind of friend who would do anything for you.  While we will miss him sorely, we will never forget him.  

Rest in peace, Uncle Dick.

I first met Dick in the mid 1980s through our mutual admiration for Mercury Cougars. Dick and I are both original members of the Cougar Club Of America. Over the years Dick served in many positions with the club. His contributions will be greatly missed. 

Personally I will miss being able to pick up the phone and having a good chat with him. There was always an open invitation to stay at his home anytime we were in Florida. That is the man that Dick was. Truely a friend.

I am honored to be able to say that Dick was my friend. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace my friend, rest in peace.
