Robert Joseph Falkenberg

Bob attended the University of Notre Dame and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later went on to attend DePaul University to earn his Master’s degree in Business with a concentration in Marketing, where he was a member of the Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society. Following his success in school, Bob went on to have a career working in manufacturing, and excelled as an engineering manager, a marketing manager, a product manager, and a project manager.

Bob loved sports, and many Saturdays were spent cheering for his beloved Fighting Irish alongside his “Best Bud,” his son, Robert James. He made as many trips back to South Bend as he could to attend games in person and, over time, shared that excitement with his children. Born and raised outside Chicago, Bob also had a lifelong love for that city’s sports teams. And, his passion for soccer was rivaled only by his father’s, and watching Bayern Munich compete was another ritual not to be missed.

A devout Catholic, Bob was a third-degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a beloved member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where he volunteered for several years teaching youth religious education. (He always knew how to make the kids laugh.)

More than anything, though, Bob cherished his family. He valued spending as much time with his wife and children as he could and never missed a ball game for his son or a horse show for his daughter.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Helen Falkenberg, nee Goldy; his daughter, Erika Alino (Benjamin); his son, Robert James Falkenberg; his stepson, Aaron Goldy; and his granddaughters, Julia Grace Alino and Maizy Goldy. He is further survived by his mother, Mary Ann Falkenberg, and his many siblings, nieces and nephews, and extended family. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Charles V. Falkenberg, Jr., and his sister, Mary Igaravidez.

His dedication to and love for his family was apparent to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

The Visitation for Bob will be held on Wednesday, September 9, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Ormond Beach.

The Funeral Mass for Bob will be held on Thursday, September 10, at 10:00 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
