Robert B Wood

Robert B. Wood, 93, of Ormond Beach passed away December 16, 2011. He was born September 28, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Anne (Blomen) Wood. Bob and his wife Mary Alice Counsell “Mac” Wood moved to the Ormond Beach area in 1981 from Sewickley, PA. He graduated from Harvard in the class of 1940.

He was retired as Vice President of Personnel and Labor relations of Limbach Company of Pittsburgh, PA. While living in his Florida nursing home he was elected Resident Council President. Bob was a Chairman of the Volusia County Republican Executive Committee, President of Daytona Historical Society, emeritus, President of the Symphony Society, emeritus, and a member of the Halifax River Yacht Club, and a member of many of social and civic organizations.

He is survived by his daughters Connie Wood Spencer(Charles), Diane Wood Schaffer, son Robert A. Wood(Kathy), son-in-law Amin Mysorewala, grandchildren Bridget, Chris, Kris and Kurt Wood, George and Kurt Hoffmaster, John and Amy Dowker, Kirin and Adam Mysorewala, Evan Hyde and Ally Spencer, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mac and his daughter Karen Wood Mysorewala.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00PM Thursday December 22, 2011 at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. A service will be held in Pennsylvania in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Friends of Volusia Library, the Daytona Beach Historical Society, or the Daytona Beach Museum of Arts and Science.
