

Ronald N. Pigliacampi, age 85 of Ormond Beach died Monday, March 25th, 2013. Ronald retired in 1989 from General Electric after 38 years of service. He moved here from Syracuse, New York with the first contingent of General Electric employees on the Apollo Space Program in 1962. Ron Graduated from Clarkson University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. His is a veteran of World War II and served in the US Army. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, a past member of the Florida Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for seven years as a transporter and Leader in Admissions. A past member of the Daytona Beach Knights of Columbus Council 5422, a member of Pi Tau Sigma Society, and past Treasurer of The Society for the Advancement of Management and a member of the Society for Mechanical Engineers. He completed the General Electric Test Engineering Course and the GE Manufacturing Training Program; he worked at seven different GE locations on eight production lines. He was past treasurer of the Daytona Beach GE Elfun Society and Past President of the GE Golf Association. Ron was very active in the Ormond Beach youth sports movement. He coached both in the Catholic basketball league and the Ormond Beach Recreation sports programs. He coached for ten years in three sports, winning championships with the 17 and 18 year olds in baseball and basketball. He enjoyed golf, gardening, traveling and Investing with the New York Stock Exchange. He believed in good family relations and supported many family activities. Survivors include: His wife Luella of 52 years, son(s) David of Daytona Beach, and Jeffery (Darcy) of Ormond Beach, Daughter Lisa Shavatt (Jack) of Orlando, two brothers Jack (Shirley), Jules (Betty) of Pennsylvania, Sister: Jean Bryson of Wappingers Fall, NY and (sister-in-law) Lucille of New City NY. He also is survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ronald is preceded in death by parents Guilio and Louise Pigliacampi, Brother: Joseph Pigliacampi, Sister: Eileen Fay and Brother-in-Law(s) Carl Bryson and Gerald Fay.
