On Monday, August 24,2020 Rosalind Riegle Glisson went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Ohio, but at 9 months old became a Floridian for life. She was a wonderful house wife and mother. She stated many times “the best time of my life were when you kids were growing up “. She graduated from Seabreeze High School and continued her education at the Tallahassee College for Women, then later becoming Florida State University and it became coed at that time. She met her husband there and was married to J.Floyd Glisson on May 3, 1947. She loved boating and snorkeling but was a talented floral arranger and competed in various classes. She also loved painting in oil and water color. She studied with a Chinese professor and was prolific in Chinese watercolor. She moved back to Daytona Beach, from Dunedin, to care for her parents,
Judge Horace Riegle and Cleo Riegle. She remained very active in her church, First United Methodist Church in Ormond Beach. She joined the Chancel Choir in 1982, she was also active in their drama group. She studied Disciple 1 and she was a part of the prayer team. She started the turban project for patients who had cancer and were loosing their hair, the group also made “Du-Rags” for children. These turbons and “du-rags” were sent to hospitals across the nation. She also was a part of the Ladies Bell Choir, as well as arranging alter flowers. She was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration and said “ This is what I have, now what am I going to do about it”. She started the Macular support group at the church. Celebrating her life here, are her children Gary Glisson (Suzanne), Mike Glisson, and Sandy Glisson Boaz. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren: Jamie Glisson, Jaclyn Glisson Tapley, Peyton Glisson, Kyle Glisson, Scott Mesick, Shirley Mesick Grounds, Jason Mesick, Matt Nowell, Stephen Hood. She was also loved by her18 great-grandchildren. Her life will be celebrated by her family , at an intimate graveside service, then at a later date a memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Ormond Beach.
