Samir “Sam” Nicola Salem, 79, of Port Orange, FL, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024. Samir was born on February 20, 1945, in Bilbays, Egypt, to Nekoula and Mary Salem. He graduated from Ain Shams University in Cario, Egypt, with a degree in architecture and engineering. Following his studies he served in the Egyptian Army. He immigrated to the United States with his wife and daughter in 1982. Samir and his family moved from Cleveland, Ohio, to Daytona Beach, FL in 1994. He spent his life working in business and real estate.
Samir is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marcil E. Salem; his children, Meriam and Mark; and his granddaughter, Myrrha Murphy.
The Funeral prayer will be Wednesday July 31, 2024, at 11:30 AM following the Divine Liturgy at St. George Coptic Orthodox Church in Daytona Beach, FL. This will be followed by the burial at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home & Park.
Samir will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
