Sandra Kay Barnes

Sandra was born on October 14, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Lloyel H. and Sadie Pearl (Wells) Barnes. She moved to Daytona Beach with her family in 1964 from Bailey, North Carolina. Sandra graduated from Mainland Highschool in 1967 then went on to recieve her associates degree from Daytona Beach Community College.

Though Sandra never married or had children of her own, her family was always the most important thing in her life. She loved her nieces and nephews like they were her children. Aunt Sandra had an extra special place in her heart for Krista & Jackie Barnes, who were like granddaughters to her.

Sandra leaves behind to cherish her memory, 2 brothers: Richard "Rick" Barnes and his wife, Kay of Deltona, FL and Dennis "Denny" Rothacher and his wife, Joanne of Lee Summit, MO; 2 sisters, Judith "Judy" Perry of Ormond Beach, FL and Sheri West of Ormond Beach, FL; many beloved nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Howland.

A viewing for Sandra K. Barnes will be held at the Ormond Beach Chapel of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. There will be a service on Friday, October 8, 2010; 11 a.m. at Tomoka Christian Church, 1151 West Granada Boulevard, Ormond Beach, followed by an interment service at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Tomoka Christian Church or the American Diabetes Association.
