Sonja Monika Frisino

Sonja was born on May 17, 1945, in Berlin, Germany. When she was fourteen, her family immigrated to Canada. As a young woman she married her first husband, Jean-Claude Labbe, and together they raised their family in Rockland County, New York. In 1984, she married Joseph Frisino; with whom she shared many happy years.

Sonja was a woman of remarkable drive and independence. While in New York, she owned and operated two successful businesses, B&L Upholstery and Monika Swimming Pools. In 2003, she relocated to Daytona Beach, where she worked as coordinator for Daytona State College and later as a tax professional for H&R Block, work she approached with the same care and dedication she brought to everything in her life.

But it was the moments between work that truly defined her. Sonja loved to play games. Her favorites were cards and Scrabble. Anyone who sat across the table from her quickly learned she played to win. She was a devoted member of the Peninsula Woman's Club, where she proudly served as president for several years, generously giving her time and energy to her community. She found joy in tending to her beautiful garden, painting, ceramics and was an excellent bowler. Fluent in German, French, and English, she carried the richness of her journey in every conversation.

Sonja was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Frisino; her former husband, Jean-Claude Labbe; and her stepdaughter, Donna Frisino-Jackson; her sister Margit Savoie and brother Lothar Blume.

She leaves behind a family who adored her: her daughter, April Ferguson (Graham); her son, Ronald Labbe (Brandi); and her cherished grandchildren, Sean and Olivia Ferguson, and Ryan, Devin, and Abigail Labbe. Her love, her laughter, and her strength will live on in each of them.

A Celebration of Sonja's Life will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Woman's Club, 415 South Peninsula Drive, Daytona Beach, Florida. All who knew and loved her are warmly invited to share memories and honor a life beautifully lived.
