Today, we honor the life of our beloved Sylvia (Ita), mother, wife, grandmother, mother- in- law, and friend, a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and incredible strength. She devoted herself to her family and lived her life in service to God, teaching us through her actions what it means to love selflessly.
Sylvia served the church in many ways. In Puerto Rico, she served as a catechist for children preparing for the Sacrament of Holy Communion, She also was a member of the Legion of Mary, a ministry of prayer for the sick; they also visted their homes and prayed with all. Sylvia was also a Eucharistic Minister at the Sacred Heart Chapel in Cayey, PR, St. Patrick in Fayetteville, NC. and St Boniface in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Sylvia and Jose worked also as leaders of the "Mundo Mejor" marriage retreats for many years. They believed in the Sacrament of Marriage and devoted their time and testimonies of faith so marriages could place God in the center of their relationships. Sylvia also volunteered at the New Life Thrift Store at Prince of Peace, where she enjoyed working in the department of linen and made many friends.
Her prayers were a source of comfort, her wisdom a guiding light, and her embrace a reminder of God's love.
Though we grieve deeply, we take solace in knowing she is now with our Father, Blessed Mother, and her loving husband Jose in eternal rest and peace; embraced in the glory of God.
Funeral Mass will be on Friday August 8, 2025, at 11 am with a brief visitation 10:30 am until time of service at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 South Nova Rd, Ormond Beach, Florida, with inurnment to follow at Volusia Memorial Park.
