Thomas David Ritenour, Sr., “Tom”, passed away Friday, March 16 th at the age of 89. He was born on Oct. 22, 1928 in Greensburg, PA to Harry and Stella Ritenour where he grew up on his family farm. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at 16 and married Joan Bates the next year. He was honorably discharged after being injured overseas. The mechanical and managerial skills he learned in the service, along with his work ethic, led to a successful career in the automotive industry, starting in Studebaker and Mercedes Benz Dealerships in PA. He moved his family of 8 to Daytona Beach Shores in 1961 where he worked for Studebaker and then managed the first Mercedes Benz Dealership in Daytona. He owned Derbyshire 66 & Flomich 66 Full Service Auto Repair Shops and invested in commercial real estate. He worked with his son Lonnie at MBVW Auto Repair before retiring at Silver Star Import Auto Sales. He was a member of the Daytona Mustang Club and a disabled US Veteran. He enjoyed everything about cars, restoring classic cars, hunting, fishing, Pennsylvania Mountains, Florida sun, spending time with his family, cheering on his great-grandson at kart races and greeting customers at Lonnie’s Auto Repair. He is predeceased by his parents, siblings, wife and daughter JoanIris. He is survived by his loving family, including his 5 sons: Thomas Jr (Maureen) of Mulberry; Fred; Lonnie (Sylvia); Don (Mandy) and Jeff (Renee) all of Ormond Beach; 8 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild and nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 2:00pm-3:00pm at Volusia Memorial FH 548 N Nova Rd. Ormond Beach.
