Troy was born in Newport, KY to Fred Lansaw. and Russia.. He served in the US Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant assigned to the 75th Infantry Division. He was awarded two Purple Hearts for injuries received during the Battle of the Bulge.
He retired in 1979 after working for General Electric for 33 years. As part of his career with General Electric he worked for GE Aerospace in Daytona Beach, FL from 1965 until his retirement. During this time he was most proud of being part of the Apollo Program that designed the controls used at Cape Kennedy for the space flights that put the first man on the moon.
Troy was united in marriage to Vera M. Walker in February of 1979. They shared 37 beautiful years together before losing her to death on December 25, 2014.
Troy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family meant the world to him and he will be missed immensely by all of us.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Lansaw and Russia Yeary; brother, Richard Lansaw; daughter, Judith Poppelwell and his son Michael T. Lansaw.
He is survived by his children, Terry Lansaw (Betty), Mary Lee McBride, Barbara Radford (Darrell)., Susan Brush, David Lansaw, Linda Kellar (Randy), Dale Tassi (Al), Donna Medders; 26 grandchildren, Craig, Steven, Patrick, Jodi, Shelly, Jason, Kendra, Jon, Ethan, Samantha, Michael, Terry Lynn, David, Trina, Steven, Treena, J., Brian, Chris, A.J., Melissa, Kevin, Billy, Matt, Jeff, and Jennifer, and over 40 great grand-grandchildren.
An intimate graveside service will be held for immediate family members on January 21, 2021 at 2:00PM at Volusia Memorial Park.
A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
