

Walter Federick Hatcher entered eternal rest after a short illness on Saturday July 30, 2011. Walter was born June 23, 1919 to Milton and Sophie Leider Hatcher in Corona, Long Island, New York. He was educated in the New York school system and graduated from Bryant High School in Long Island City, New York. After high school Walter moved to Washington D.C. and attended Howard University where he studied for a degree in engineering.
He entered federal service as a munitions specialist maintaining that career before being drafted by the United States Army. During his distinguished career in the Army, Walter obtained the rank of Captain and served with honor in the Second World War stationed in the Philippines, Europe and Africa. He received many exemplary conduct citations and medals of honor in the service of his country. He married the "love of his life" Margaret Dodson in 2004 and settled with her in Palm Coast, Florida.
Walter was a devoted member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Palm Coast where he served as an Usher. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Marian, Mable and Milton and his former wife Maria. He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife Margaret, his son, Theodore and two grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his passing dedicated family members, committed close friends, Tony and Dollie DePalma, Richard S. Hart and other caring friends. At memorial service will be held Friday 11:00 am at St Thomas Episcopal Church 5400 Belle Terre Pky Palm Coast The family will be receiving friends Friday at the church one hour prior to services.
