

Wim was a man of creativity, warmth, and genuine compassion. He was a brilliant mechanical engineer. His specialty was machine design resulting in 17 US patents. His hobby was professional photography for the Dutch motorsport magazine. He was considered one of the best motorsport photographers of that time. Beyond his work, he simply loved life. Whether traveling, spending time at the beach, or enjoying the excitement of racing, he embraced every moment with enthusiasm.
Above all, Wim was devoted to his family. He treasured family gatherings and the time spent surrounded by those he loved most. His kindness, presence, and steady love will remain in the hearts of his family forever.
He is predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Susan A McSweeney Castricum.
He is survived by Joseph F. Ireland III and spouse Laurel Ireland; John F. Ireland and spouse Lynette Ireland; and Lisa A. Ireland and spouse Jeremy Royce. He was a proud grandfather to Michael Ireland, Cecilia Ireland, Joseph Ireland IV, and Shannon Ireland, and a loving great-grandfather to Liam Ireland and Finn Ireland.
Wim will be remembered as a caring man whose life was filled with love, creativity, and meaningful connections. His memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the photographs he captured, and the family he cherished so deeply.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174, on April 22, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
