

After graduating high school, Bill joined the Navy. He was so proud to have served as a radioman in the United States Navy on the USS Forrest Royal - DD-872. In 1957 he married his wife Ronnie and this year they will have celebrated their 65th anniversary. They met on Rockaway Beach where Bill served as a lifeguard. In 1960, Bill joined the ranks of the New York Police Department. In November of 1980 he moved from New York to Ormond Beach and became part of the Daytona Beach Police Department.
He had a great love for people and they loved him in return.
Bill has been a wonderful husband and father and his family adored him. He had eighty-seven years of life, enjoying every minute. Bill was predeceased by his brother Joe Zachary two years ago.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ronnie, daughters Mary Jo (Wehniainen), Eileen (Iseneker) and his son Bill. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Eric, Tara, Dylan, Michael, Joshua, Rebekah, Daniel and Grace and his precious new gift James, his great grandson.
Visitation will be held from 11 am until 2 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 2 pm at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach on Monday, August 15.
