Hey Skipper,

So it’s taken some time for me to try put something together to honor you, so here goes.

How do you measure the strength of a man?
Is it his personality?
Is it his ability to to understand and read every person he has met and the uncanny ability to tell them just what they need to hear that day to make their day that much better?
Is it his giving nature to make sure everyone in his circle and out of his circle does not go with out?
Over 20 years ago you took this once shy and reserved Newfie under your wing to help to mold me into the man I am today. A few times at that as I tried several careers to find my way but they always led back to you.

My appreciation and admiration for who you are, who you were and who you always will be will never waiver, for the remainder of my time I will always think “what would of Alex have done” before reacting.

With your guidance and wisdom over the years I will do my best to keep this ship going in the right direction.

Long may your big Jib Draw (rough translation for Mainlanders May your boat always be filled with fish!!)

May the wind always be at your back

May your line always be tight

May the person you are fishing with always be ready to get handed your rod once you have hooked the fish and you realize they haven’t caught anything that day, which I have received this courtesy more then once.

If I can be half the man you were then I’ll take that as a major win.

As I type this I can’t help but thinking your reaction... what are doing you Big dummy!!

Catch ya later Skipper.

After several trips to the tailgate to fill our glasses with a great bottle of rye, the guys finally decided to bring the bottle to the table.

Al’s granddaughter saw a picture of the guys and asked who the weirdo in the cat shirt was. (It was my son Jordan) Al then swapped clothes with Jordan and sent this picture to her saying “it is me”.

It is not often that you meet someone like Alex. He is one in a million. Intelligent, caring, giving, always thinking of others. He will be missed by all that have fortunate enough to have had him in their lives.

He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace buddy, keep on fishing.
