Amassah Peter Hylton

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Amassah Peter Hylton, beloved husband of Mary; cherished brother of Victor, Inez, Berdie, Salma, Desmond and Marcia. Peter was a father to Pauline, Elaine, Keith, Al, Nadia and Scotty who preceded him in death; grandfather to 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. After Peter completed his basic education in Jamaica, he went on to pursue electrical studies at Savalmar Electrical Headquarters in Jamaica. Peter met and married his first wife, Avril, and settled in Oshawa where he worked at Lasco until his retirement. Peter will be remembered for his gentle spirit, the love of his family and his generosity towards the needy. The family extends special thanks to many friends, Health Care professionals and caregivers who assisted Peter and offered the family such splendid support.

A visitation will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, located at 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario, L1J 2L4, on January 24, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

The funeral service will follow at the same location on January 24, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.

A committal service is scheduled at Thornton Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres, 1200 Thornton Rd N, Oshawa, Ontario, L1J 0C9, on January 24, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
