December 17, 1990 – April 9, 2026
With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Andrew Michael Monaco on April 9, 2026, at the young age of 35.
Beloved youngest son of Debbie Monaco and the late Frank Monaco, cherished brother to Deanna (Brad) and Adrian (Lisa), loving father to Auston and proud uncle to his niece, Avery. Andrew also shared a special bond with his loyal chocolate lab, Maverick, who passed in September 2025.
Above all, Andrew was the proud and devoted father to his son, Auston, whom he shared with Alex. Andrew and Alex shared many years of love, which brought them their cherished son; and although their relationship changed over time, they continued to care for one another, always working to place Auston’s wellbeing and needs at the forefront. Auston was the centre of Andrew’s world and you would often find them playing video games, shooting hoops, kicking a soccer ball in the yard, playing hockey in the driveway, going to the movies, having Nerf battles, wrestling, building Lego creations, drawing together, or just hanging out at the park. Andrew treasured every moment with Auston and the simple, everyday moments meant the most to him. He loved Auston so much!
Growing up, Andrew graduated from St. Mary’s High School and went on to attend Durham College, where he completed the Social Service Worker program. His kind and compassionate nature later led him to volunteer with Big Brothers and work with non-verbal children at a local elementary school, where he made a meaningful impact. He worked at Whitevale Golf Course over a few summers, where he formed lifelong friendships and connections. In 2017, he proudly accepted a job working for Canada Post where he remained.
Andrew had a passion for hockey, playing competitively as a goaltender throughout his school-age years. He had a deep love for music and was rarely without his headphones, always rapping, dancing or singing. Andrew enjoyed staying active—swimming, walking, and working out—and found peace in nature, often spending time outdoors. He loved gathering with family and friends and had a true appreciation for good food and his daily Tim Hortons coffee. He was also known for his famous jalapeño poppers, which were always a favourite among those who knew him! Auston and Avery shared many special memories with Andrew—playing hockey, skipping, swimming, dancing, doing crafts, and just spending time together. These moments, filled with laughter and love, will be forever cherished.
Andrew faced his share of challenges, but he was always trying to improve himself with the best of intentions. Andrew’s life was not perfect, but whose is – He tried his very best to be a great father, he wanted to be successful; to belong, to be happy, and do right by the people he loved. Andrew will be remembered for his huge heart, his love for his family, and his deep desire to be a good father. He will be immensely missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him—especially his son Auston, who will always be his greatest pride and joy.
The Family would appreciate in lieu of flowers, a donation to support his son’s immediate needs and future education in Andrew’s honour. Additional information will be provided in the coming days.
Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial visitation on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and immediately followed by a memorial service from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, ON.
