

Faithful servant of our Lord entered into rest peacefully, at home on Sunday October 11th, 2015, with his family by his side. David was 73. He had suffered a Cerebellum Stroke complicated by cancer. Cherished husband, Soulmate and best friend of Carolyn (Locke) for 45 years. Devoted Dad to Jennifer (Keshna) Spalding, Lee, Margie, & Dianna Atkinson. Devoted and loved Papa to Jasmine Atkinson, Ashantae, Lamar, & Makaiyah Spalding and loved Grandpa to Lincoln Atkinson. Dedicated and loved friend to those whose lives he touched with kindness, hospitality, gentle manner and words of wisdom. Son of the late Estella (Horne) and Dudley Atkinson of Kellits, Clarendon, Jamaica. Favourite son-in-law of Bea Locke (Mammy). Predeceased by brothers Ken, Claude and Lincoln and sisters Chinna & Ruby. Dearly loved brother of Daphne (Larry) Johnson, Charles, Roy, Daphne L., Linnette (David) Parkes, Dudley(Barbara), Tommy, Dawn(Carlton) Curry, & Audrey (Deryk) Russell. Special Uncle to many nieces and nephews, cousin to many. Loved brother of the Eureka Rd family Kingston, Jamaica. David was a founding member of Club Carrib, in Oshawa, a diligent member and worker at Connaught Park in Oshawa, Skipper of the 8thOshawa sea scouts at Christ Church in Oshawa, Faithful servant of Jesus Christ as Rectors Warden and parishioner at St Martins Anglican church in Courtice. David will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family extended family, friends and acquaintances. The family sends sincere and Heartfelt appreciation and thanks to VHA, our nurse Jill CCAC, our PSW Ashmeira, Sherry, Amanda, Yvonne, Monica, Vanda and all those who cared for David. The funeral service for David is as follows -- Visitation at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. W., Oshawa (905-721-1234) on Friday October 23rd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Saturday October 24th at 11:00a.m. Donations to the Rehab Stroke Unit of Lakeridge Health Oshawa, St. Martin's Anglican Church, Courtice or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
