Diane  was truly a driving force for so many of our children! I remember back to cross country in grade 5, all of Carson's friends were still there when he moved out west and I had the grade 5 picture. So many more stories with Matt, Jamie and Andrew and our other kids friends.

I first met Diane and the Bruce Family back around 2005 assisting them with their financial planning needs and she was a lovely lady to deal with.  I always found Diane to be firm but fair and open to new ideas and suggestions as it related to their financial strategies. It was wonderful to see how excited she was when her family started to grow with the recent additions of her new grandkids - she was clearly a proud Grandma!  I will miss our discussions and I appreciate having gotten to know her over the years.  Rest in Peace.

Dianne was a special friend.

We had a great friendship that began in high school and continued through our 4 years together in the physical eduction program at Queen’s. We often sat together in lectures and deliberately worked in the same lab groups. Di’s sense of humor and up beat demeanor was ever present.
A few short year’s ago, I got to speak with her at an LPGA event in Naples. Not surprisingly, as she proudly spoke of her family, it was obvious that even after many years she was the same old cheerful and caring Di, that I remembered.

When we moved to West Bay in 2011 Diane was one of the first people to welcome us. It has been our pleasure to get to know Diane as a neighbour and a friend.  Hearing her hearty laughter over the fence  when the family was up illustrated to us that her family meant everything to her and only increased once the grandchildren came along!!

Diane was one of the kindest souls I had the chance to work with.  When I joined the staff at MCVI she immediately welcomed me into the “family” and in my first year, she continued to check in on me to ensure that I was settling ok.  Her passion and energy in all aspects of school life were infectious.  I’ve never heard anything but lovely comments about her as a teacher, coach, coworker and friend.   I hope that family and friends find comfort in all of the incredible stories you are reminded of this week as you celebrate her life.  She left a mark beyond measure.

Hello Cousins and friends and family of Diane,
I was so very sorry to hear that we've lost the bright light that was Diane.  My fondest memories of your family are when I was still a single child (and a bit lonely at times) and we would head down to Kingston for Christmas or a special holiday.  I was so envious of the sibling count and the really big eating table in the kitchen!  I especially loved those individual types of cereal boxes that opened in the middle.  When we were older it was mostly weddings and funerals that we met, but every time we saw her again, she was still the same, fun, dynamic person.  I know my parents appreciated Diane's Christmas letters.  Again, so very sorry for your loss.

It might be a cliché, but Diane was the coolest teacher. I also had the opportunity to work with Diana as a peer counsellor with SID, a peer counselling group that she led that at OCVI that was quite innovative at the time. She was younger than many teachers there and her approach connected with so many students, such as her ability to talk 'with us', instead of 'to us'. Diane was the rare, empathetic teacher that truly understood what it was like to be a teen in high school. She trusted us but she also provided the guidance, care, leadership, and reassurance that we needed to succeed. Her laugh and her energy always made us feel comfortable and welcome.  It sounds like she continued to live life to the fullest which brings a smile to my face. It's been 35 years since I left OCVI but Diane's impact wasn't ever forgotten. My condolences to her family.

I’m so sorry to hear about Diane’s passing.  She was my guidance counsellor and the leader for our peer support group when I was at O’Neill from 1987 to 1992.  She had a smile for everyone and was always  willing to chat and to help you find solutions.  
I had the pleasure of babysitting her boys and got to her know as more than a teacher.  Her family was everything to her.

Mrs. Bruce was one of my teachers and basketball coaches when I was at OCVI 1985-1990.  She always had a smile and time for a chat. Some practices she would bring her boys and it was evident how much she adored them. My deepest condolences to her family. She will be dearly missed.

I had Mrs. Bruce as a gym teacher when I attended OCVI from 1979-1983. She was a fantastic teacher and had a smile that could light up a room. To her family my condolences.

It was an honour having Diane oversee the student support group back in the late 80’s. I babysat her boys when they were little.  Andrew helped my settlement after a car accident. I have fond memories of your family.  You are in my prayers, and may you all be comforted by all the wonderful memories you have of Diane. She was a class act.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Diane's passing. Looking at the beautiful photo reminded me that I never saw Diane without a smile; in fact I cannot picture her without one.  She was such a lovely person, kind to everyone and always ready to laugh.  My deepest sympathy to Andy, Andrew, Jamie, Matt and their families.
