Doreen Naomi Throop

After a brief but courageous battle, at Lakeridge Health – Oshawa on Tuesday, April 29th, 2014 Doreen (nee Sampson), in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Robert S. Throop. Dear mother of Rev. Dr. R. Douglas Throop of Port Hope and Janet and her husband Mike Elliott of Oshawa. Cherished Gramma of Sarah and Robert Elliott and Jeremy and Justin Elliott and their families. Dear sister of Alma Gomme (Russ) and Harold Sampson (Rosemarie). Predeceased by her sister Jean Barnes (

David) and brother Jack Sampson. Beloved sister-in-law of Frances Major (Robert), Bernice Wyse (Errol) and Evelyn Throop (the late Needham). Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Doreen was an active member of Kingsview United Church for over 40 years. She also volunteered in the Oshawa Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, May 1st, from 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel Friday, May 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Spencerville Union Cemetery on Saturday, May 3rd at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Lakeridge Health Foundation – Durham Regional Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.
