Eileen Margaret Manson passed peacefully just before her 99th birthday on Friday, June 26th, 2015. In her death, she lovingly joins her husband, the late Leonard (Trapper) Leo. She also was preceded in death by her daughters Susan (in infancy) and her twin Sharron Denny, son Michael, sons-in-law Paul Denny and John Bowie. She is survived by daughter Colleen Bowie and daughter-in-law Dorothy Lloyd (Leo). She will be greatly missed by her 8 grandchildren Gordon Denny, Joanne Denny-McKinstry, Karen Sawicki (Denny), Sheila Schultz (Bowie), David Bowie, Heather Bowie, Shannon Leo, and Kalen Leo. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. Eileen was born on a homestead in Turtleford, Saskatchewan. She moved when young to St. Catharines Ontario, and later to Merritton. She literally started in a world with horses and plows and through her lifetime watched the rise of everything from radio, TV, indoor plumbing, electricity in every home, two world wars, numerous towns that became bigger cities and were swallowed by even bigger cities, a car in every driveway, satellites, the computer, a man on the moon, and women voting, working and living full lives. She loved the fact that girls today have better access to sports and education. When she was young she played recreational basketball and always loved to swim. She was fond of the Olympics and was a great Canadian fan spectator at the Montreal Olympics. She travelled well into her years with family members enjoying various parts of Canada, Europe, Hawaii, Florida, California, Arizona, Alaska (white-water rafting), Mexico, and Egypt (the pyramids). She also amassed an impressive collection of snowmen! The family would like to thank the staff at Taunton Mills Retirement home in Whitby, ON and the Wynfield Nursing home in Oshawa Ontario for their wonderful care and kindness to Eileen. A great legacy, impossible to match, a truly special person, sweet, lovely, kind, bright, smart, forever questing knowledge. She will be greatly missed by all. The family will have a celebration of her life planned at a future date. Arrangements entrusted to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234). Memorial donations to the Canadian Heart Association, Canadian Cancer Association, or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
