Forbes "Doc" McEwen

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29th, 2013 at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, in his 88th year. Beloved husband, her “rock” and friend of Beverley McEwen (nee Pascoe) for 61 years. Proud and loving father of John (Barb) of Calgary and Jim (Lorraine) of Courtice. Cherished grandfather of Krista (Jesse) and Stephanie of Calgary, Chantelle (Sacha) of Gatineau, Que., Jamie (Valerie) of Toronto, and Tina, Dustin and Corey of Oshawa. Great grandfather of Maddy. Only son of the late Dr. Neil and Huldah McEwen, and brother of the late Winona McEwen. Forbes was employed by the Town of Whitby for 28 years - as Treasurer and as Development Officer. He was proud of his “behind the scenes” initiative in Park and Property purchases and development in Whitby. Forbes was also a proud member of the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame in hockey. He was active in Trinity United Church, Omemee, ON as well as the Omemee Business Community Improvement Association. Forbes RV’d actively for 40 years with his wife Bev on 3 Continents, with many wonderful memories of places and friends. He was retired for 32 years and never lost his interest in good Municipal Government. Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, January 2nd from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, January 3rd at 1:00 p.m. Private interment Oshawa Union Cemetery. If desired, donations in memory of Forbes may be made to the Trinity United Church, Omemee, ON.
