Mr. Finlayson was very active in his personal and professional life serving as Vice President of Sales at Warner Lambert in Canada and in the final years of his career for the USA market. In addition to his business interests, Fred was also very active in giving back to his community where he was actively involved in local, regional and federal politics. His philanthropic interests and contributions are too numerous to list, however, his most recent work with Gate 3:16 Drop In Centre in Oshawa and active participation in his Church (Kingsview United) are amongst his most precious memories. Mr. Finlayson had been formally recognized on numerous occasions for his outstanding contributions. His most cherished recognition came from him being named; Canadian Marketer of the Year Award by the Sales and Marketing Executives Toronto where other recipients included notable Canadian business personalities such as George Cohon, Murray Koffler, Ed Mirvish, Max Ward and David Nichol; Confectionery Manufacturers Association of Canada “Oscar Award” (one of five presented in the then 86 year history of the association); Humanitarian of the Year Award and Recipient of Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada for his contributions to the Free Trade Committee. In addition to his success in the business world, he was even more successful as loving husband for 57 years and deeply caring and devoted father to his 3 boys. He taught us business is not about power and money, but honour, respect and integrity and demonstrated you can be successful at work and at home, always being there for birthdays, baseball and hockey games and every other important family event. He was also sincerely and humbly dedicated to helping others through the his good work at his church and Gate 3:16 and showed us by example you should always give back and share your many blessings unselfishly.
