My condolences to the Blake family.

I met Gerry when he moved to North Bay and got to talking about what brought him to the North. He was easy going and really easy to talk with.

He was an exceptionally kind man who I have fond memories of.

Gerry was one of the first superintendents with whom I worked with at DCDSB. In the years that I knew him, he was such a dedicated and kind educator. His sense of humour lit up the room and it was alway a pleasure to see him. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Gerry I have missed you since you retired so many years ago, and I will miss you even more now.

Our deepest condolences to Gerry’s family and friends.

I had the pleasure of knowing Gerry during the years that we worked together at the Durham Catholic District School Board. I’ll always remember Gerry’s passion for his work and his wonderful sense of humour. Gerry had a special gift for making someone feel appreciated and important. He used that gift effectively and often!

Rest In Peace, my friend and God speed.

Gerry was a champion of Catholic Education in times when it faced some of its' greatest challenges. Many of us have plenty examples of Gerry living out the Gospel as he had a special heart for the "widows and orphans". Like many, who's career journey took them through the "Root Cellar", he was a mentor of mine and it would be hard to communicate the amount of wisdom he past on. There have been many times in my career I have echoed one of his "Gerryisums". It is with sadness I offer my deepest sympathies to his family, especially Ginn and Kevin, but it is with joy that I celebrate that you are home my friend "well done good and faithful servant" ….. Gerry Blake was a faith filled, compassionate and humble servant. He clearly understood the Gospel message and lived it daily in his vocation as an educator. Students were always at the centre of his focus particularly those who struggled and were marginalized in any way. I learned so much from Gerry about what really was important. His "Gerry isms" are still quoted to this day. The DCDSB was fortunate to have benefited from Gerry's passion. Condolences to Virginia, Kevin and Family. Rest in peace, friend.

I have fond memories of Gerry , specially his sense of humor. It was greatly appreciated on our road trip to Tim's wedding in Fredricton. The muffler on the chief's beast of a car blew 10 miles out of Fredricton on the way home on the Sunday and it was truly Gerry and his wit that got us through the 15 hour trip.

My condolences to Virginia and all of the Blake family.

I was honoured to know Gerry when I was involved in education. He was a mentor to me and tolerant and amused by my unteacherlike views. I’ll remember him fondly.
