(Gil) Guilford Arthur Hughes

Peacefully, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Wednesday, May 6th, 2015, Gil Hughes in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Jean. Dear father of Ida and her husband Casey den Biesen of Red Deer, Alberta and Gil and his wife Debbie of Oshawa. Loving Grandpa of Jeremy and Mark; Rileigh, Cody, Taylor and Amanda. Predeceased by his grandson Robert. Gil retired from General Motors after 41.5 years of service. Hockey was his “Passion”; as a player, Minor Hockey Coach, O.H.L. Scout with the Oshawa Generals and the Sudbury Wolves, and also with the N.H.L. Calgary Flames. Gil was a 2014 inductee into the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame and was a life member of the Oshawa Minor Hockey Association. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Sunday, May 10th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, May 11th at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the Lakeridge Health Foundation - Cancer Care or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
