Passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 11th, 2016 after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Loving husband of Nilma for 22 years. Loving father of Skye and Raphael “RJ”. Adored son of Ivy (late Raphael 2014). Beloved brother of Hyacinth (late Wilson), Trevor (Karen), Dawn, Doreen (Stewart) and Merva (Huntley). Gilbert will also be dearly missed by many extended family and friends. Best friend for 30 years of Joan Jagnandan and family. The Nation family wishes to extend their appreciation for the professionalism shown by P.C. Barry Easton, Officer Bradley, EMS and the paramedics on the scene for their care and compassion shown to Gilbert and his family. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, July 21st from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel on Friday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted for the MS Society of Canada.
