With great sadness, Mark’s family advises of his sudden passing on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Mark experienced a massive aneurysm the day before apparently with little pain or knowledge of what was happening after enjoying one final typical Saturday morning of reading the paper and drinking coffee. A firm believer in organ and tissue donation, and given his age and relatively good health prior to his death, his passing has saved or enhanced the lives of 5 persons via organ donation and approximately 20 people via tissue donation. Mark’s family gives great thanks in this regard. Mark is survived by his loving wife Jennifer Jenkins and his son Jamie, mother Shirley Scott, father-in-law and mother-in-law Wray and June Jenkins, brother Robin (Beverley), Jennifer’s brother Thom (Lorraine) sister Donalda (Tim), and by his nieces and nephews. Mark’s father Harold Scott predeceased in 1989. In addition to being a good man who enjoyed life Mark was a hard working successful lawyer, co-authored a legal text with wife Jennifer and an avid sports enthusiast both as participant and fan. The family wishes to express its immense gratitude for the efforts of the emergency responders on that tragic Saturday morning and the efforts and kindness of the staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa thereafter. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 28th at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street W., Oshawa, followed immediately by a service celebrating Mark’s life at 11:00 a.m. at the same location, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s memory may be made to the Trillium Gift of Life Network 522 University Avenue, Suite 900, Toronto, ON M5G 1W7 which is the provincial agency in charge of planning, promoting, co-ordinating and supporting organ and tissue donations across Ontario. Mark’s family also respectfully suggests that all persons consider their wishes regarding organ donation which should then be documented not only by signing and keeping with them an organ donor intention card but as well by registering a “Gift of Life Consent Form” with the Ministry of Health (www.giftoflife.on.ca).
