Harvey Joseph Burke

Dearly beloved husband of Sharon (nee Godfrey) of 60 years. Loving Father of Danny, Nancy and Chris Leherbauer, Heather and Harry Lyman and Kim and Al Kirby. Cherished “Grampa” to 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dear brother to Ella Legere, Doris Dugas and Bob Burke. Predeceased by his parents Ethel and Adolph Burke.

Harvey will be remembered for his good nature and cheerful disposition. He was dedicated and hard-working. Harvey worked at General Motors in Oshawa for 30 years. After retiring from GM he worked as a custodian at St. Georges Anglican Church, Parkview Seniors residence in Newcastle and the Forestry Place senior residence in Bowmanville - always willing to help out whenever he could.

Harvey enjoyed playing golf, baseball and hockey. For more than two decades, Harvey was actively involved in coaching in various minor hockey levels. He also was a coach in the Oshawa parks softball league. In the late seventies, Harvey briefly toured Canada as part of the four man softball team Jack and the Jesters.

Harvey will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends. The family appreciates all of your prayers and kind gestures during this difficult time. They would also like express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Hillsdale Estates for the wonderful care given to Harvey over these many years.

A visitation for Harvey will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario, followed by a memorial service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the chapel.
