FUROY, Hélène June 3rd, 1936 ~ March 26th, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden loss of Hélène Furoy (nee Frappier) at the age of 84. Beloved wife of her late husband, Marcel. Loving Mother of Nicole (Peter) Mooney and Guy Furoy. Cherished Grand-mère of Riley and Adam. Sister of Suzanne Frappier-Towsey (late Arthur) in Australia, Gilles Frappier (Marlene). Predeceased by her two brothers Gérard and Roger Frappier. Sister-in-law to Céline and Jeannine. Daughter to the late Laurent and Hilda Frappier. Hélène will be sadly missed by a very special friend, Joe, from the Retirement home.
She will be fondly remembered by all her nieces and nephews especially the ones that lived in the Oshawa area, since she taught them their Academic grades at the French school. Hélène was born in the Sudbury District, she was educated in a private Nunnery College in Sturgeon Falls, ON and after graduating she attended Teacher’s College in Ottawa. Her first teaching engagement was in Malartic, Québec, and a few years later she decided to move back to Sudbury and continued with her passion teaching.
After coming home from Québec, she was fortunate and life became very rewarding, she met the love of her life, Marcel Furoy, and they were married in 1959. After 2 – 3 years of marriage they wanted a new venture and in 1963 they uprooted from the north and moved to Oshawa where she continued her teaching career at the French School Corpus Christie, and Marcel started with General Motors. Her involvement in the French Parish and the Sisters of Isabella was an ongoing achievement to help the community, she was highly respected, always offering to help others. A great supporter of the education system, Hélène returned to York University to upgrade her skills and later worked with special needs children.
She was a great Sister, Teacher, Wife, Mother, Aunt and Grandmother, and she will always be cherished and remembered by her Family, Friends, and all the people that crossed her path over the years. Retirement came after 40 years plus of teaching and her and Marcel spent many winters in Bradenton, Florida, they enjoyed golfing, they socialized and became good friends with a large group of Snowbirds from Ontario/Québec.
On behalf of the family, we would like to thank all the Staff at Chartwell Wynfield Retirement Residence for all their help during her stay, she always was so appreciative of their service.

Guy & Nicole, your Mom was like a 2nd mother to me. She certainly didn't give me an inch in school as my teacher at Corpus-Christi and she was always kind and loving whenever I loitered at your home. She was a great friend to both my Grandmother and my Mother. Your mother was a very special person, a bright light in the world that will be missed by me and my entire family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you both, as well as to your family.

My sincere sympathies to you Nicole, Guy and family. Both our families shared many good times that to this day i still cherish. Over the years we have not kept so much in touch except for the occasional weddings, funerals and the occasional phone call i had with your mom. Please know that i have and will always have great respect for your maman.

Tante Hélène, we haven’t seen each other in many years but I haven’t forgotten some fond memories. There are several but a few stand out. The first time I ate Gazpacho and Chicken a la King was at your home. It was so delicious. I was in my late teens and I remember being so impressed with the presentation. It was also the first time I saw wine being served from a decanter rather than a bottle. Your visits camping with my family is when I first realized I could actually enjoy camping. I just had to do it in style, Lol. I enjoyed our pleasant conversations. I was always in awe of your elegance and beauty. May you Rest In Peace ma chère tante. 💞
