I would like to extend my sincere and heartfelt sympathy to Onie's family. I first met Onie many years ago at Dr. S.J.Phillips Public School, where she volunteered, and where I still teach. She was an inspirational, dedicated volunteer, who worked with and nurtured many children during her time there. She became a dear friend to many staff members. She was a wonderful, caring, funny, elegant lady.
She will be missed.

I had the privilege of working with Onie when I was Principal at Dr. S. J. Phillips P.S. in Oshawa. Onie was a star volunteer in the school. Her students loved her and so did the staff and parents. She contributed in a very positive way to the lives of everyone who knew her. I remember the great chats we would have in my office on a variety of topics and how much she cared for the little ones that she took under her wing. I know that Onie will leave a legacy of caring, compassion, understanding and love to her family and others whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
With sympathy, Katie Brown (Victoria, B.C.)

My deepest sympathy to your family. I did not know Onie but know how much she meant to Barbara, my dear friend, who spoke of her often. She will be sadly missed.

Peter and family: We are thinking of you and send you our heartfelt sympathies. Losing a parent is always difficult, and although we had not met your mother, her son and his family are evidence of wonderful mother. Gail and Dick

I did not know Iona personally. I do however know Phil her son. He is someone I have great respect for and admire. Those qualities in a son tell me a lot about what type of women and mother Iona was.
Our Deepest Sympathies,

Dean and I were so sad to hear about Onie's sudden passing! We met Onie last summer at the cottage and became friends immediately. She had the type of personality that you were drawn to and we enjoyed our time spent with her -- even if it was way too short. We will miss her dearly and it won't be the same at the cottage without her. Our deepest sympathy goes out to all her family and friends.

So very sad to hear of Onie's passing. My heartfelt condolences to all of her family and extended family. I knew Onie when I was the school secretary at Dr. S.J. Phillips P.S. She was such an inspiration to students and staff and a special friend to me. She will be deeply missed but her memory will always be cherished. I feel honoured to have known her.
