

It is with great sadness that the family of James Taylor announces his passing on Sunday, June 25th, 2017 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in his 74th year. James is survived by his beloved wife Valerie (Smith). He is predeceased by his parents Gordon and Nancy (Sinclair). Dear father to Robert Umlauf (deceased), Leslie, James (Audrey), and stepfather to Kevin (Robin) and Christopher (Pauline) Lyons. He was a proud grandfather to Randy, Johnathon, Morgan, Lindsay; step grandfather to Makenzie, Colton and Carson; and great grandfather to Faith. Jimbo is survived by his two sisters, Susan (Jerry) and Margaret (Dave) and is predeceased by his brother Gord. Jimmy was a member of the Oshawa Senior Citizens Centre and a medal holder for the Snooker Senior Games. He was a lifetime member of the Ironworkers Union, Local 721 and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 606 where he enjoyed playing Snooker. His second home at the trailer in Bobcaygeon is where he loved to fish and socialize. He was an avid golfer and his enthusiasm never wavered due to his Hole in One at Black Diamond. Jim fought a valiant battle against Mesothelioma. Many thanks to the dedicated staff on the sixth floor at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, especially Dr. Azi. Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, June 29th from 3:00 p.m. until time of Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favourite cancer charity.
