It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Archie at home, on Thursday, October 6th, 2016 at the age of 68. He was surrounded by his loved ones after a six month battle. Loving father of Melannie Elmhurst and her husband Michael, and Kevin Heinen and his wife Kelly. Proud and caring grandfather of Olivia, Jensen, Elizabeth, and Cameron. Cherished brother of Barry and his wife Sally, Marjo, and Helena. Archie will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. He has been reunited with Colleen. Heartfelt thanks to Marti, Rhonda and Marilyn for their kind and gentle care during this difficult journey. Special thanks to Nurses Jill and Sue for their love, respect, and loyalty. Archie was a compassionate and hard-working spirit who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved the cottage, planting in the gardens, and being outdoors. Archie loved cars, fishing, working in his garage, and laughing with his grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him. Relatives and friends will be received at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) for memorial visitation on Monday, October 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be gratefully accepted by the family.
