It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Sanders Shanks, who peacefully departed at the age of 83, surrounded by the love of his family, on January 6, 2025, at Lakeridge Health in Bowmanville, Ontario.
John was the devoted and beloved husband of Mary, and together they spent 56 beautiful and fulfilling years, sharing cherished memories. His love and commitment to his family were unwavering. John will be deeply missed by his children, Gary, Leslie, Laura, and Crawford. He was also a proud and adoring grandfather to his five grandchildren—Emma, Rebecca, Kaitlin, Cameron, and Blair—who brought immense joy to his life.
A passionate supporter of the Glasgow Rangers soccer team throughout his life, John carried his love for the club with pride and devotion, a reflection of his loyalty and dedication. His spirited enthusiasm for the sport, especially for his team, was a defining part of who he was.
