It is with great sadness that the family of Kathleen (Kay) Manila (nee Twasnick) of Oshawa, Ontario announce her peaceful passing at Fairview Lodge in Whitby on Wednesday October 5 just a week short of her 102nd birthday. Predeceased by her parents Andrew and Lydia, husband Stanley, her sisters Mary, Ann and Victoria (Vicky) and brother Edward (Eddie). Mother of Andrea (Ron) and Linda (Kevin) and grandmother to Nikki (Jeff), Erica (Corey), Jordan (Anna) and Dean. Great-grandmother to Brandon, Jocelyn and Mya. Kay was a Durham resident all her life. She worked at Duplate during WW2 making the windshields for the Lancaster and Hurricane bombers. After raising her two daughters, she went on to work at General Printers until she retired in 1985 at the age of 65. She enjoyed softball as a youth and Bingo, bowling and knitting as an adult. She loved cooking her Ukrainian cuisine for her family. She also enjoyed going to her cottage in Coe Hill on Wollaston Lake. You would also find her cheering on her favourite baseball team the Toronto Blue Jays. She adored visits with her grand and great grandchildren. Kay will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
The viewing will take place on Tuesday October 11th, 2022, at The Oshawa Funeral Home (847 King Street West, Oshawa, ON, L1J 2L4) from 11:30am to 1:30pm, following with the service.
Interment will be held at the Thornton Cemetery (1200 Thornton Rd N, Oshawa, ON L1J 0C9).
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathleen's memory may be made to Alzheimer Society.
