Surrounded by family at Whitby General Hospital, Lang Cope passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6th, 2011 at the age of 76. If you had the pleasure of meeting Lang Cope you never would have forgotten him. Lang was a remarkable and inspiring man known for his supreme optimism and loved by all. Growing up as a member of Balmy Beach Club, Lang was an avid paddler and exceptional football player. His love for being on water progressed as he developed a passion for fishing which led him to say that “one day on the water is better than ten on land”. Predeceased by his loving parents Edward and Marion Cope, Lang was the loving husband of Daisy (Skelton) for almost 55 years and adored father of Karen (Bath), George and Kira, Dad you will be missed beyond words. A Father In-law to Alex Bath, Tami Cope and Darren Martel who Lang loved as his own. A proud and caring grandfather to Lauren, Graham and Colin Bath, Steven, Blair and Jillian Cope, Kylie Treen and Erin Elliott. Also survived by his loving sisters Joyce McConnell and Ruth Martin and Brother Jim Cope, nieces and nephews. Lang taught us to live life to its fullest and spread joy and love to everyone he met. Like the title of his favourite song, "If I Can Help Somebody," Lang will be remembered for his ability to make everyone’s day “great." Family will receive friends at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa (905-721-1234) on Friday, June 10th from 1 – 3 and 5 – 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at ALL SAINTS ANGLICAN CHURCH (300 Dundas Street West, Whitby) on Saturday, June 11th at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
