Dear Family of Len Head,
I do remember meeting Len in Crescent Beach when Michelle and Harry lived there.  He reminded me so much of Michelle, which is the best compliment of all.  It is such a blessing to have a loving family and truly that legacy is here.  What a great example to us all.  I am so grateful for the times spent with our dear friends Harry, Michelle, Mac and Jessica.  We love you guys and pray that you may be comforted at this time of loss.  May we remember that we have been taught by goodly parents and leave the best of ourselves to our children in the same way our parents have left those values and traits to us.

To my friends Brian and Kate, my sincere condolences at the passing of your father, father-in-law.  I never met your dad, Brian, but I certainly knew a part of him, because he definitely passed on his finest qualities to you. God bless you and your family today and into the future.  God bless your dad, too.

I grew up always knowing of my Uncle Len and remember my mum going to Canada (with tartan)  for Neffisa's wedding. My mum said she just loved staying with Len and Barbara  and that their hospitality was second to none.  I was thrilled to have the honour of meeting Len here in Scotland and sitting across from him at Sabrina & Phil's pre wedding dinner - my husband Huseyin and I chatted & laughed with him throughout the meal and again at the wedding the next day where he insisted we visit  him  in Canada.  Sadly we never got to make that trip but It was truly an honour that we got to meet him .

To Neffisa, Katherine, Kyle, Callum and the Head Family,

I wish each of you warm thoughts and comfort today as you celebrate the wonderful and varied aspects of your father’s and grandfather’s Life.

There were indeed numerous occasions and events throughout his Life that positively impacted his family and friends....too numerous to summarize in this format.

But as a member of the family and as an observer over the past years, three great qualities of his personality are indelible in my mind.

First, his ability as a craftsman!  His dedication and skill in the assiduous building of the cottage in Parry Sound was a testament to his incredible talents and skill as a carpenter, designer and planner! The cottage was a manifestation of his superior  abilities.   He persevered!  Each of us benefited!!

Second, though I may not have always agreed with his opinion, he was truly a man who pursued knowledge and had the capacity to organize and articulate his thoughts.  I was always so very impressed with how accomplished he was at public speaking on various occasions!  He was so well spoken and articulate.  An impressive spokesperson!

Thirdly, but not least, one of his greatest qualities as a unique individual was his fabulous sense of humour!  His laugh brought life to every occasion!!  His laughter made others laugh!  What a wonderful innate quality that was  part of his demeanor and personality.  A quality shared and experienced by everyone who knew him!! His laughter  continues to echo in my mind.

He leaves this world having impacted one and all in so many positive ways.  He blessed his family and grandchildren throughout his life time.

For each one of us, we inherit a role model of perseverance, indefatigable pursuance of knowledge and understanding and a reminder to face all obstacles with uncompromising humour.

May each of us find comfort today in the solace of his Life well lived.

As a child in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 it was my Father’s job to make sure every pair of shoes 👞 were spit and polished. The shoes were lined up and inspected. Woe betide Dad if they were less than perfect. 

As a child myself I watched Dad polish and shine his brogues. They were a source of great pride for Dad. Buying quality and caring for them was extremely important to Dad. Perhaps a sign that despite being a man of trades he had class.  I vividly remembering running down King street behind Dad on his way to the cobbler to get his soles or heels replaced. Although short in stature dad always walked at a very fast clip. Hence my needing to run to keep up. 

The military idea of everything being neat as a pin was also evidenced in Dads work cloths. The pants had to have a knife sharp pleat and everything ironed just so. I am sure my sisters will remember this job as well. 

So whenever I think of my Father I think of a man with a booming infectious laugh, a great smile, knife sharp pleats, shiny brogues and a pat on the back that nearly knocked  me off my feet. Dad never realized how strong he was. 

Dad Rest In Peace knowing your life long lessons have positively effected us all, children and grand children alike. 

My polish and brush are ever ready.

I only knew him as "Gramps." What a wonderful, loving man. I'm so grateful he was a part of my life. He always made me feel so special and I couldn't help but feel happy around him. He lived for his family and made sure I felt a part of it. I'll forever cherish the memories I have with him.

I'm so sorry to hear about Uncle Len he was one in a million a true gentlemen and a loving family man, he was never judgemental he had a big in pact on my life, I learnt so much from him more than anyone will ever know. He was always full of sound advice and praise. I looked to him as a father figure. I loved the stories he told. He made me feel like a real member of his family and I will be eternally great full. R I P Uncle Len you will be sadly missed by all of us in England 

I feel so blessed to have spent time in Oshawa with Len and the rest of the family along with my parents.   Those memories I will cherish forever!   I loved all of Len's stories and seeing how him and Dad would light up when they talked about great memories.   Grammy loved him so very much.   He was more than just a nephew to her, he was like another son and it is easy to see why.   Len is someone who was easy to love.   I will always be grateful that he come to NB along with Michelle and Irene in 2009 when I got married.   We only had 35 people and I love the group shot with Len right there smiling as always.   Thinking of every single one of you at this difficult time.   Neil and I both said that we are pretty sure that Uncle Clayton has already located him up there in heaven and they are having a good ol chat:)

I've know Len from the time he was a boarder in my mum's house. That's when he met my sister Barbara and they fell in love. I remember him as a big joker, always  laughing and telling stories. When I graduated from nursing school and got my 1st job, I would often visit Barbara, Len and their kids. When I walked in the door his usual greeting was to their children 1st "here comes your rich Aunt Edna, better be extra nice to her".  I guess my status changed as I got older, because he would warn others as he dropped me off for visits "keep an eye on this one and count your silver, or she'll make off with it! " When we reached our 80s and were visiting each other, he joked with me as always and then for a moment became serious "you know were are on borrowed time now, don't you Ed?" My last conversation with him was when he called to see if I was coming to visit this summer. When I told him yes he said he was looking forward to it.  I was so disappointed that I didn't get see him and hear him tease  me one last time.

Myself and Elize met Uncle Len on our holiday to  Destin ,  the man at the heart of a wonderful family . Making us feel so welcome and loved he was a true inspiration to have lived a amazing life so full of love and adventure. We where blessed to of been with Uncle Len and got to know the caring gentle man that he was and he will  be remembered in our holiday memories spent together

I am truly grateful for being able to say I knew this amazing man, and I always got a good laugh while visiting! I was introduced to Len and his family through Sabrina and Phil, and Nancy. While getting to know Len, he always welcomed me with a great big smile and hug, and treated me as if I was apart of his family. He told me stories about him growing up, he raved about his family - he was so proud of each and everyone of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We reminisced after I went to Scotland for a family vacation, and he never let me get away without asking if I was scooped up by a man yet! I always enjoyed seeing him and our chats. Even though our recent visit was short, I am thankful for being able to make that time to go visit with Sabrina and the kids. 

To all the family,  

I am so very sorry for your loss. I have enjoyed hearing all of the stories shared, and I hope you continue to share those stories and memories.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Gramps. You have always been my role model of a hard working man in the trades. You always encouraged my mechanical apptitude and praised my welding skills. I treasured our long phone calls talking about the trades, which tickets I should persue and union matters. You always made me laugh with your trades stories and the adventures of having worked all over North America. From Baffin Island to Mississippi.

Emily Grace was your first grand daughter. You said her eyes were looking like the moon cause they were so big. You said Collin James was a strong little gaffer and that he was “a keeper”. 

You always thanked me for driving so far for family functions. You would sometimes discretely slip me some gas money. “Tell your friends” you would quip. Then in parting you always said. “Drive safely. I have none of you to loose” 

I am sure I will continue to automatically pick up the phone for one of our gabs

Len was always loved and important to his family and friends as can be attested to by the care and support given him during his time of need.  For me, a visit to his home with Nancy showed me that Len was a caring and welcoming man with a wit that matched his intelligence.

When we were children, my 'Aunt' Louise (Lens mother) would often bring Len and his brothers Jimmy and Billy to our house in Coatbridge and we often played together.  Although Len was a tad older we all had a great time together. I am  so pleased to have had the opportunity to see him again a few years ago at his grand-daughter Sabrina's wedding here in Scotland and to talk about old times.
May he be reunited with all his loved ones who have gone before.

Over the years many of my friends had the opportunity to meet and spend time with my grandfather. I am sure all who knew him would agree that he was a man fiercely devoted to and passionately loved by all his family, an incredibly hard worker, a fantastic storyteller and an honest and genuine person. 

I am grateful that my children knew and loved my Gramps. I am grateful for all the wonderful memories I have of him. I am grateful for all the important life lessons he taught me. I know he had a profound impact on my life and making me who I am and for that I am truly grateful!

As Nancy's friend, I had the privilege to meet Nancy's dad just twice but was overwhelmed by his genuine character, his love for Nancy and his wits about the daily happenings in not only the town he lived in but also in the Province of Ontario, Canada as a whole and the world at large.  I bow my head with respect for Leonard and I am sure, he is received in God's Kingdom with open arms . God Bless you Len, I will not forget you.

As a child I remember Uncle Len seeming bigger than life. He was always so full of stories, jokes, laughter and song. I have a favorite memory of when we were all staying at the cottages one summer. Mum and Aunt Barb were working in the kitchen. Uncle Len burst in and begin signing to and swirling around Aunt Barbara "Lavender blue, dilly-dilly, Lavender green. If I were king, dilly-dilly, I'd need a queen,Whoa-oh, who told me so?, dilly-dilly Who told me so? I told myself, dilly-dilly, I told me so, If your dilly-dilly heart, Feels a dilly-dilly way. If you'll answer yes In a pretty little church On a dilly-dilly day You'll be wed in a dilly-dilly dress of Lavender blue, dilly-dilly Lavender green. Then I'll be king, dilly-dilly .You'll be my queen"   At first Aunt Barb seemed a bit surprised, as she was in the middle of her kitchen work, but then she joined him in song and the cottage just seemed to fill with joy.

I can't remember which year it was, but there was one summer where Sabrina invited a couple of us up to the cottage and then camping in Killbear. I remember the warm welcome we all received, and the feeling of comfort both Grams and Gramps imparted on us. I will never forget my time there or any time since when I was lucky enough to enjoy his presence. 

Gramps was an amazing man, and will be sadly missed by everyone who was honoured to have met him.
