Lillian Margaret Wallace was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Lillian will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Lillian was born on May 21, 1933 in Fort Frances, Ontario where she lived until 13 years of age. She was the daughter of Joseph and Edna Kentner.
Lillian was raised with eight brothers and sisters, Eva, Leona, Arnold, Clarence, Gilbert, Helen, Dorothy and Gerald. She was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young girl, Lillian had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and making up games. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. Lillian was an active child who took part in baseball. However, to Lillian, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends.
A typical teenager, Lillian had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She attended Pickering High School and schools in the Scarborough area. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favourite subjects and teachers.
Lillian was happily married to William Wallace. Empathic and loyal, Lillian was committed to making her new family happy.
Lillian worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Lillian was blessed with seven children, three sons, Brett, Kevin, Russell and four daughters, Wanda, Carol, Brenda, Lisa and step daughter Sheri. She was also blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Fortunately, Lillian enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Lillian worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Lillian wanted to be a nurse but never had the opportunity. Her 1st job was with W.L. Smith Greeting Cards. She went to work at what is now known as Whitby Shores. Her most recent job was for Croven Crystals, where she had many friends. She retired from there after 30 years. Lillian always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Lillian found pleasure in sports. She was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following her favourite events whenever she had the chance to do so. Tops on her list were baseball and hockey.
Lillian enjoyed travelling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favourite vacations included a Caribbean cruise and a European tour with Bill.
Lillian was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favourites was Benji, a miniature Poodle.
Lillian passed away at home on November 11, 2020. She is survived by her husband Bill, her children Wanda, Kevin, Carol, Russell, Brenda, Brett and Lisa, and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services were held at the Oshawa Funeral Home. Lillian was laid to rest in Mount Lawn Cemetery in Whitby, Ontario.
Simply stated, Lillian was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Lillian leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Lillian Margaret Wallace.
