A loving son, husband and father Manayon Asuncion entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Monday, May 11th, 2021. He was 58.

Manny’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He spent a great deal of time serving the Lord through his God given talent in music. Through the years he also gave his time to the church teaching and sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Manny was a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family, church, and community.

Manny is a humble and selfless individual who always and is able to lend a helping hand. Up to his last strength, he did volunteer work despite of his health condition as his way of showing his love for others. His battle with medical issues showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Manny stayed strong until the end.

Overall, Manny’s life was full of many blessings. He valued and cherished every moment with his family and friends. He took pride on his children’s (Patrick, Aaron, Alyssa) accomplishments and his love for his wife, Ermelita Asuncion is immeasurable. A beloved son to his parents (Virgilio and Carlina), a caring brother to his siblings (Matda++ and Robert/ Chona and Brucelee/ Virlina and Ronnie/Almendes and Rizza) and a doting uncle to all his nephews and nieces.

Pareng Manny was a joker, he has many humorous stories. Every time we come together and joke about how we are all aging and balding, he always says “lets just see on the finals”. I guess “the finals” he was referring to was not only about whos gonna be more bald in the end, but he meant to fight the good fight, keep the faith and finish the race as written in 2 Timothy 4:7. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Pareng Manny is the epitome of a brother, a friend and a faithful servant. Parekoy, Thank you for everything you have done for us. Sayang saan mu laeng nga inurayen ti paga abalayan tan!

To the family; in Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” Pareng Manny, You will be missed but never forgotten!

I arrived to canada in May 1994. Around a month after, Sister Cecile’s aunt, brought me to a birthday party, which happened to be Patrick’s 1st birthday. This was the first time I met Pareng Manny and Sister Hermie. As well as, Pastor Teck and Sister Myra. Little did I know that this was the beginning of our journey with The Friends of Jesus Christ and my friendship with Pareng Manny.

Our friendship became closer when we spent every Sunday at practice for our worship services in Pastor’s basement. Pareng Manny was on the bass and I was playing the guitar. Aside from music, we also shared an interest in sports. We went to watch basketball and baseball games at the SkyDome, back in the day.

Pastor was right in saying that brother Manny was very faithful in his ministries. He was dedicated from the beginning to the end of his life. Pareng Manny was a self less brother. When I did not have a car, he used to pick us up for Sunday services. He is the kind of person, like the song says, “just call my name, and ill be there”.

Brothers and sisters, I have a confession to make. Brother Manny was too sensitive. Sensitive to the leadings of the holy spirit and sensitive to the chords of the guitar, because back then we did not have a “high tech” tuner, HE was our tuner.
In addition to that, he was sensible. Sensible means “Done or chosen in accordance with wisdom or prudence”. He was wise, he spent most of his time and talents for the church; building, repairing and even became a contractor. When you are faithful in little things, God will bless you with so much more, pastors can attest to this.

You know, one of the things I'll miss the most is being able to serve with him in the
Rev 5 ministry. How many people can say they had such an experience or oppurtunity to
serve and play music with their father like that? To think I'd be jamming out with my dad
in the same band, making music and just vibing, having a good time. You know, to others
it was just songs or music, but it was a geniuine time to bond with my dad and I really
cherished those times we stayed for practice and went to church early on Sundays for
practice before service. I'd always brag sometimes too to others like yeah, thats my
dad playing Bass and HARMONIZING at the same time or you hear that solo? Yeah that was

Manayon Asuncion was an amazing son, a wonderful and loving husband, and a great father.
Although you are gone, we all find peace and comfort in knowing you are no longer
suffering or in any discomfort. We find joy and happiness in knowing you are up there
with our Heavenly father watching and taking care of us. You're probably up in the
heaven's renovating God a new basement or doing base riffs to Sama Sama. I love,
and will miss you. Don't worry, i'll take care of us down here, just watch over us up there.

We are all gathered here today to reflect and celebrate the life of a man with multiple
names and alias's. To some hes Tito Manny, Parekoy, Pare, Manny Pacquiao, Uncle Manny,
mars, but to me, he was my Dad. An amazing son, a wonderful and God-fearing husband, and a
wondeful father. Although he's passed, he lives forever in our hearts, thoughts, and
memories. I Guess God really wanted this one.

My dad was one of the hardest working people I've ever known, and this is me being
totally unbiased. Even when he wasn't working, he was working...I've seen him do
100's of part time work and jobs and yet hes never satisfied. A man who was a ship man
came to Canada and learned absoutely every Handyman job that there was invented. Even
if he didn't know how to do it, he was resilient and cunning enough to figure it out.
I'm sure his fellow co workers and friends can attest to that. Out of all the projects
and jobs he's done, I would say his most signifcant job was helping turn
a warehouse on 181 Nugget into the church it is today. Never would I have imagined my dad
completing such things. Still blows my mind.

One of the most important things I admired was his heart to serve the Lord.
Regardless of the circumstance, the situation, or whatever was going on in his life,
he made it a priority to give onto the Lord and serve the Lord. Whether it be leading
bible studys when he was a leader, being part of the buhat ministry, or playing the bass
for Rev 5, his heart was of and for the Lord. Thats one of the things I mostly admired
him for, his heart for the kingdom of God.

Even when he was sick, he made sure that his faith remained strong and firm regardless
of the circumstance he was in. Over the past couple of weeks, just watching him deteriorate
physically infront of our eyes was one of the hardest things I've had to witness and
just being so helpless broke my heart. Even though his flesh was weak, his faith
remained strong.

You know, one of the things I'll miss the most is

Dearest Uncle and Ninong Manny,

Happy Graduation to heaven, Ninong!

You are such a humble, dedicated and faithful servant of God. It was inspiring seeing how you loved and served the Lord faithfully - especially through music. You sang and played bass/guitar for the Lord in the Rev. 5 ministry, during bible studies and even during family gatherings. Your life encouraged us to use our gifts and talents for God's glory and to also work hard, help others, spend quality time with family, and keep our faith and trust in God. You continue to inspire us to keep living for Jesus and to live life to the fullest.

You are an amazing Uncle/Ninong and a caring Lolo to Raychel. Thank you for helping build her beautiful room (she loves it :) Thank you also for all the laughs and joy you brought to our family, for being one of our wedding drivers and for helping build our lives and our basement (which is now our home). We're so grateful for the many days you came over to help built it and how you always did it with a smile. Thanks for teaching Gary how to sand, plaster, and paint walls too. We will never forget the day you spent shopping for materials with us. You helped us buy the perfect doors, baseboards, paint and more.

So grateful for all the memories and adventures we shared too (Family vacations, camping trips, cruise trips, long drives, and our many malunggay parties). We will miss seeing you around Ninong, but we're happy to know you're in a better place now with the Lord, rejoicing with Him. Thanks for everything! You've truly made such a positive impact in our lives and we will miss you so much, Ninong Manny! We love you!

To our Ninang Hermie, Patrick, Aaron, Alyssa, Lolo Virgilio, Lola Carling and all the siblings, may you always remember the wonderful memories you had together. Know he is always in your hearts and watching over you in heaven. Praying for strength, comfort and peace, today and everyday. We love you!

Love & prayers,
Gary, Chelsea and Raychel

Dear Bro Manny,

Congratulations on your graduation to heaven!

You are known to be soft spoken and a man of few words but we heard your message loud and clear - that you loved the Lord Jesus Christ so much that you offered your life and service fully to him. You said, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain". And as you now enter the presence of God, listen to what he is saying, "Well done, good and faithful servant! Come and share your Lord's happiness!"

No word is enough to express our gratitude for the love and time that you shared with us. You were truly a blessing that the Lord gave not only to your own family but to the spiritual family of the Friends of Jesus Christ. You will be greatly missed.

We let you go and enjoy eternity in the presence of our God and Savior Jesus Christ! Do not worry about your wife, Sis Hermie and your children, Patrick, Aaron and Alyssa. The Lord himself will be their refuge and strength and their ever present help in times of need.

I thank God for your life, "Pards".
I praise and thank the Lord for your faithfulness in the Rev5 Music Ministry.
One thing that amazed me, is that you can play the guitar and bass even without chords in front of you. We will missed you in the music ministry.
You are one of those brother in our spiritual family who is always smiling 😊and full of energy doing work for the church.
When you were just new here in Canada, you will call me "Miss beautiful" and I told to one of your relative and she said that you cannot remember my name. One day you asked me to be a Ninang (godmother) to your firstborn son.
I call you "Pards" and you call me "Mars" whenever we see each other.

John 11:25
Jesus said to her,"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live , even though they die.
Mareng Hermie, Patrick, Aaron and Alyssa
Praying for God's comfort upon your family.
God bless.
