Mary Heyes, the center of our family passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 17, 2026, just 10 days before her 97th birthday. Mary had a passion for singing and dancing and of course the cottage. She had a song for everything. Mary was known for her warmth, generosity, welcoming arms and unconditional love of the family and friends.
Cherished wife and best friend of the late Les Heyes for 71 years. Loving and proud Mom of Katrine (late – Steve), Sherryl (Pat) and Ross (Nuala). Warm hearted Nana to Connie, Corinne, Chris, Nicole, Lesley, Lindsay, and Matthew. Her grandchildren always brought a smile to her face and twinkle to her eye. Mary was blessed with 14 Great Grandchildren whom she adored and loved having around her.
Les and Mary were married in St. Lukes Farnworth Church, in Widnes, Lancashire on June 9th, 1951. Their adventure began as they travelled to Canada on the R.M.S Nova Scotia Cargo Ship, arriving in Halifax then boarding a train to Toronto, Ontario to continue their adventurous life path.
Mary had a grateful heart for all that she had, often commenting that her life was better than she ever imagined. She lived a beautiful adventurous life filled with excitement and joy.
The family would be honoured to have you join them in a Celebration of Life at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario (905-721-1234) on Friday March 27th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. followed by the service at 2:00 p.m.
We would like to thank the wonderful people at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for the incredible support and care over the last few weeks. Family would also like to thank the wonderful people at the Village of Taunton Mills for allowing Mary to be a part of their family.
In lieu of flowers, family would be appreciative of donations in memory of Mary, to the Alzheimer Society or the Kidney Foundation.
