

At her residence on Friday, December 26, 2025 at 80 years of age.
Beloved wife of the late Douglas Barber.
Dear daughter of the late George and Violet.
Loving sister of Ella (Harry) and Margaret.
Muriel will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews Debbie (Bob), Dwayne (Dawn), Denise, Donna, Beverly (John Yes), Barry (Kim), & Brian (Hanh); her stepchildren Michael, Kate (Dave), Rosemary (Scott); & Nathalie.
Loving grandmother of Julian, David, Sam, Daniel, & Emile.
Muriel will be fondly remembered by Patricia, Dee, Jade, & Olivia, as well as her extended family and many friends.
Over the years, Muriel worked at Loblaws, Sure Fit, and Cadbury. For many years she volunteered with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Muriel selflessly cared for her father for 30 years.
Later in life, she met Doug and they married and began a new chapter in their lives together.
Muriel loved people. Her active sense of humor, innate kindness, and unflagging sense of empathy for others touched many lives. No stranger to hardships, Muriel never let them defeat her. She put her faith into action and was active in her church.
Visitation will be held at the Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West in Oshawa on Thursday January 15th from 12:30 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow. Interment of cremated remains will take place in the spring at Oshawa’s Union Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
