Murray Elvin McLennan
August 20, 1930 – September 12, 2017
McLENNAN, Murray Elvin (August 20, 1930 - September 12, 2017) After a long and full life, Murray, beloved husband of 47 years of Ann (Harper) passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Murray’s dedication to his family was limitless. He was the treasured and much loved "Pop" of Luke and Drew McLennan and Griffin Hole, and very proud father of Dr. Scott McLennan (wife Cheri, née Richards) Bowmanville and Kimberly McLennan (husband Gavin Hole) Scarborough. Murray was predeceased by his parents Elvin and Louise (Puckrin) McLennan, his sisters Donna, June and Betty, infant grandson Charlie Hole, and very recently, his brother- in-law Dave Harper. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Catherine Harper and his many nieces and nephews. Murray’s warmth, kindness and sense of humour will be greatly missed. Growing up in Gananoque Ontario, Murray loved telling stories of his adventures on the river, between working on the 1000 Island Tour Boats to pleasure boating with friends, his love of the St. Lawrence never waned. Murray moved to Oshawa to work for McCallum Transport, and later relocated to Toronto after being recruited by Bell Canada as a driver trainer and transport operator. He eventually returned to Oshawa with Ann and worked as an auto hauler for Citicar, and MCL until retirement. In keeping with Murray's wishes, a private family service will held at a later date. Interment will be at the Gananoque Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Graham for his compassionate care and Dr. Eli Sagi for his ongoing support. Arrangements entrusted to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Hospital for Sick Kid's NICU or to the charity of your choice.

I would like to express my condolences to the McLennan family. I had the pleasure of working with Murray at Citicar. Murray was always a great help & made my Dispatching duties easier. Laughs, jokes and humor were never absent with Murray present and in between all this, the man hauled a lot of vehicles. 7am he was back in Oshawa from Hamilton loading up his next delivery. He would then come into the office with the coffees and smirk "bout time you got out of bed and into work", and then the big grin and laugh would follow. One of the GM dealers in Hamilton had a mean watch dog & would await the sound of Murray's truck pulling in, knowing a treat of hot dogs guaranteed Murray could get the vehicles unloaded and into the compound during the wee hours. Murray had a way of getting things done. Thanks for the good times Murray .
