I met Rick a number of years ago through my work and I was very sorry to hear of his passing. I like to think he is off somewhere, sitting down at a table with his mom, enjoying a meal of her homemade cabbage rolls. My sympathy to you all.

Although I didn't know Rick well, many of us growing up in the Harman / Cedardale area knew Rick and saw him often at the arena, the Oshawa Centre or in the neighbourhood.  He was always very friendly and willing to strike up a conversation.  When I saw his obituary it was sad to think he had passed but also brought back great memories of growing up in the neighbourhood and all the great people there.  Rick was one of those people!  My sincere condolences.

My Son's played hockey all the way up the minor league and he followed them
all through the years and was a great supper fan all that time , he hardly ever
missed a game . He is really missed at the rinks and by many people there .

I met Rick years ago through the 7th Oshawa Boy Scouts.  He and his broths don and Ken were all members and we had lots of fun doing various activities back then.I would run into rick  from time to time at arenas mostly  and we would talk about the old days going camping with the Scouts. Sorry to hear about Richard, my condolences. I use to see Richard frequently at the Oshawa Shopping Centre. I sat with him once to have a coffee in the dining area and we talked about a few things including our time in the Ontario Regiment, Richard being just a year older than myself. Whenever we'd encounter each other we'd give a friendly nod of recognition. In recent years i wondered where he was, now i know. Rest in peace Richard.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family today.  I have a lot of found memories of Rick being around the arenas, mainly Harmon Park as we trained and skated in the summer. He always wanted to help in any way he could.  We were all happy to see him when he showed up. I will always remember him.

Rick was a GREAT supporter of any sporting event whether it be at the ball diamonds, hockey rinks or local bars.

Many times I would give him ride and he would tell me about his life and family.

Back in the late 1970's I spent a couple of summers working with Richard and other clients going on outings and experiencing activities out and around the community.  I have thought about Richard many times over the years as I remember how much fun we had and how much I enjoyed his company.  It saddens me to know he is no longer with us and I extend my heartfelt sympathy to his family for their loss.

Growing up in Cedardale myself, Rick was known and respected by so many. He was a valued team member of the our notorious "Cedardale Ranger" hockey club. It was common place to be walking or standing somewhere and out of the blue Rick would walk up behind you and whisper his famous greeting....
"Hi Terry" or whom ever he was addressing...always polite and sincere.
You will be missed Rick...
