Rita Mary Kraftchick Turkovich

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Rita, following a brief illness at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday, September 10th, 2013 at 84 years of age. Rita was predeceased by beloved husband John. Cherished and much loved mother to Cathy (Ted) Calberry, John (Lou), Chris (Gary), Brenda (Tony) Ruzzo and David (Daisy). Proud and loving Grandma to Adam, Kimberly, Justin, Angie and Amy. Great Grandma to Austin and Kayla. Rita will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Lucy and Theresa (Syd). Dear sister-in-law to Nick (Kathleen), Ann (Frank), Barbara and special cousin to Mira. Rita will be remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Many thanks to the personal support workers who welcomed her at her new apartment and treated her like family during her short stay there. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring and compassionate doctors, nurses and support staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for taking such good care of Rita and her family. Friends may call at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Sunday, September 15th from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. GERTRUDE’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH (690 King Street East, Oshawa) on Monday, September 16th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by Rita’s family.
