
I first met Robin in 1983. I and my other half Harry Stooshinoff had moved to Oshawa from the Prairies. I was quite ill and needed to find the right doctor. Harry and I were at the Oshawa Centre one day. There was a fund-raising and awareness booth for the Crohn's and Colitis Society. When asked who I should see, the answer in unison was Dr. Davies.

And so began a twenty-two year relationship. Robin literally saved my life on more than one occasion. During the time between 1983 and 2005 office and hospital visits extended far past medical boundaries. Many conversations on life, travel, and politics and art ensued over the years and many laughs were shared. Over the twenty-two years Robin would  impart updates on his beloved family including the various exploits of his beautiful and talented wife Wendy. The pictures on the office desk of Ben and Alex would change as they grew up -  they were a source of great pride and joy and a constant topic of conversation.

The last time I saw Robin was in November 2005. He was embarking on his own personal journey to try and fend off the illness that was consuming his body but not his spirit. I was so sorry to hear of the Robin's passing.  When I chaired the hospital board, I really enjoyed working with him.  He was always well-informed, thoughtful, and a pleasure to work with.  We should all aspire to follow his lead of living life with gusto.  My condolences to Wendy and family.

Dr. Davies saved my wife's life in 1993 and I'm sure she is one of too many to count. I was saddened to hear of his passing as I have never forgotten the 2 weeks I was lucky enough to have him as her physician back then. I will always remember him fondly. I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Davies' passing. Dr Davies was my doctor when I lived in Brooklin. I was a very young 24 year old girl, newly married when Dr. Davies became my doctor. He diagnosed me after 2 years of being ill and not knowing what was wrong with me. I will be forever grateful for his kindness, compassion and advice. He was my doctor for 5 years. He always treated me like a person and not just a patient. The advice he gave me at one of our first meetings is something I have relied upon to make decisions all my life. I wanted you to know how much he has helped me, dispite the fact that I haven't been his patient for over 20yrs. He was the best doctor I have ever had the chance to meet. My deepest sympathies for your loss.

You may not remember us, but we had the great pleasure of hiking with the Davies Family and Pam and Werner in Switzerland in 1997. I particularly remember Robin's good humor as we hiked and his strong helping hand as I traversed a raging brook in front of the Rotstockhut. Alex, you celebrated your 11th birthday on that trip. We are so sad to know that Robin has passed on and want you to know that you are in our thoughts.
