Zia Rosa, you have been taken to be God's angel, you were a women with great strength and courage you will forever live in our hearts and when I  think of you I remember the love and kindness you showed everyone around you.
Thanks for being a part of my life and I will always hold a special place in my heart for you.
Love you lots and will miss you.

I was honoured when the 'girls' asked me to say the eulogy for Zia Rosina - their mom. A special mom that was a mother to all! I didn't know where to start but it was something that I could do to honour her memory. She was a Zia that wanted the best for everyone.  Here is the eulogy that I wrote to honour a very special person that touched many.

"We are all here today to pay our respects to an amazingly beautiful person, whose time here with us was taken suddenly with cancer but will never be forgotten. My Zia Rosina, a beloved wife, mother,  nonna, daughter, sister and aunt.  She touched us all.  
She was a strong and courageous woman.   She left her small town of Anzano and family  and crossed the ocean to make a new life in Canada with her husband and daughter, Rosie.  She , added to her family with 3 more girls… Pina, Angela  and  Elia.  You could also say that she had 3 more daughters – me and my sisters.  We all grew together on Victoria Park, not only was she a great mom to her own girls but also a mom to us.  Having lived in very close quarters you can’t help but be one big happy family.  BUT it was her girls that were her life – she loved spending time with them laughing; helping and supporting them where she could; she gave them comfort when they faced tough times.  She was a wonderful mom.
That was Zia Rosina, she helped everyone.  She would give the shirt off her back to ensure that you were taken care of . She saw the best in everyone.., a warm and friendly person – always had a wonderful smile and a great laugh - she welcomed everyone into her home no matter what you had done; or who you were – it didn’t matter. She loved having people in her home.  
Her loving husband Zio Michele, he loved and adored her. They were together for almost 50 wonderful years – which is remarkable. They created a lifetime of memories; creating a family and home together ; supported each other through the good times and bad but always there together.  They were partners for life.   
She was a great nonna – she loved her grandchildren – Michael, Peter , Rosina and most recently Peter Michele. Seeing her newest grandson brought her such great joy. Another child to love!  Although Peter Michele will not know his nonna – he will know the legacy she left behind. She loved being a nonna – spoiling the kids,  loved seeing them smile and kids loved her. She was fortunate and got to enjoy a lot of time with Rosina – watching her everyday she developed a special bond with her,  whether it was playing dress up; having stuff in her hair or taking her to the park – it was a bond that will not be forgotten.  A nonna that will be forever in their hearts. 
Until recently she travelled to Italy every year to help and take care of her parents - she was a dedicated daughter ; it didn’t matter that she was suffering from severe arthritis; days where she couldn’t walk and had pain. She did what she could.  This was her – she took care of others.  She was a pillar of strength.  
When she was recently diagnosed and suffering with the cancer– you wouldn’t know how bad it was because she had a high tolerance of pain, she didn’t want her family to worry.  That was just her - During these last few weeks,  a special  - selfless woman who didn’t allow herself to feel upset or sad that this happened to her; she didn’t ask ‘why me’ ;  – she took it like everything else in life – in stride.  This was just who she was – ie) in one of my many visits to the hospital - she asked about my upcoming surgery and how I was doing.  ‘don’t worry about me’ I said, take care of yourself.  She would say  ‘ a zia’ ada passa. Ada passa.  Che bui  fa…. 
Zia Rosina, enjoyed her life, we need to remember the good times and laughs we had together– there are no regrets. Her family was everything to her and she was everything to them.  She was adored.  
She gave us all strength; she gave us hope and taught us all to look for the best in people.  We will never stop loving her and she will be greatly missed by us all.  Although she is no longer her with us ; she is  an angel of God, she will look over us and she will be forever in our hearts."

Zia Rosina è stata una grande mamma, Zia, sorella e moglie. Ha trascorso la sua vita cura per gli altri e mai porsi degli altri. Tutti noi amiamo e miss lei.  She is now an angel and will look over us.  She is at peace, away from the suffering and we will always remember her love of family, gentle kindness and warmth. Vedremo ogni altro giorno nuovamente. Resto in pace. Ti Amo!

My Dear Loving Mamma

You were God's shining example of Motherhood.  He made you the most loving and caring person that anyone could ever know.  

Having you as our mother was the greatest gift we could ever have. We will cherish you and your memory forever.

You didn't only teach us, you showed us what it was to be the best mother,wife,nonna,daughter, sister and friend.

Our hearts are filled with sadness and we miss you each moment of every day.  You were the centre of our world and we see you in everything we do, everything we say, everywhere we go.

We will plant your garden this year with each flower a tribute to you and your love.  We know how much your garden meant to you and we will continue your passion. We will plant the most beautiful garden so you can look down and know that we will take care of all the things you loved in this world. 

We will be together again one day and until then, we will carry on your love and kindness in this world and strive to be mothers, sisters, wives and friends, just like you.

God has taken you to be his Angel, so Heaven is sure to be a better place now. 

We Love You and Miss You

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. 
So he put his arms around you and whispered "come to me." 
With tearful eyes all watched you, and saw you pass away. 
Although everyone loved you dearly, nobody could make you stay. 
A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. 
God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best. 

Zia I hope you now feel no pain anymore and that you are with your dad, your mom, your sister, your brother and all the rest of the family in a place where we will see us one day again.

I will always love you!

Sei stata una persona ammirabile, unica, ma soprattutto con un cuore per tutti, ora sei volata nel sole sulle ali di una farfalla, sei il nostro Angelo, aiutaci ad aspettare il momento in cui saremo nuovamente insieme.
Il tuo ricordo vivrà ogni giorno nei nostri cuori, é la tua anima ci sarà sempre accanto e ci renderà più vicini.
Anche se sei stata portato via da qui, ma nessuno potrà mai portarti via dai nostri cuori.

I will miss you and think of you always. I love you more than I could ever say and wish I could have told you more often how much I love you.You had the "Heart of Gold". You treated everyone with respect and caring and in return you reaped all the kindness and the love from those around you. You deserved more happiness than you received and yet you still gave more. You are one in a million. Love you always and forever.

To a wonderful person that was in this world. I will truly miss my zia rosina with all my heart she was a good person and sweet and loving to not one but all. I love you
