Stephen Roy Gooding

It is with heavy hearts the family of Stephen announces his sudden passing at home on September 1st, 2017 at the age of 65. Best friend and soul mate of Margaret (nee Johnston) for the last 45 years. Devoted dad of Kathryn (Paul), Elizabeth (Jay), and Laura (Luke). Grandfather of Violet, Brady, Eric, Amy and Summer. Predeceased by his parents Roy and Betty Gooding, and in-laws Margaret and James Johnston. Brother of Lynn (predeceased Jim), and Brian (Robin). Brother in law to Maureen. He will be missed by his extended family and friends. Stephen graduated from University of Waterloo in 1972, the first in his family. He had a long career as a financial planner and took pride in assisting families with their finances. He was a hockey coach and past President of the Oshawa Kiwanis Club. Stephen loved being at the cottage on Head Lake, golfing and cheering on the Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and Argos. But what he loved the most was spending time with Marg, his Girls and his grandkids. Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, September 7th from 6 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday September 8th at 11:00 a.m. at CHRIST MEMORIAL ANGLICAN CHURCH, 81 Hillcroft Street, Oshawa.
